Senior And Life Solutions, Inc. (SALS) is a Florida non-profit Corporation and a 501(c)3.
We have acquired the clients of Neighborhood Associates, Inc. which covered 9 counties in Central Florida. While on contract to the City of Orlando, Walt Willis (our founder and President) started a program in November 0f 2007 called Meal Time. The program now delivers 20 pound bags of non-perishable groceries free to the homes of people who run out of Food Stamps at the end of the month or are economically challenged. SALS has taken the program over from the City. Up until 9/09 the program only covered the city limits of Orlando, Fl. But, as of 9/25/09 SALS covers all of Orange and Seminole counties in Florida.
As of 2011 we deliver 20# bags of non-perishable food to 300 families, each month. We also deliver to approximately 25 individuals per month, that a large group of Doctors asks us to deliver food to, rather than hospitalize them. Eight times a month we deliver up to a total of 4,000 pounds per month of fresh fruits and vegetables to senior high rises and senior recreation centers for all residents and participants. That's over 10,000 pounds each month!
SALS helps seniors nationwide in almost anything non medical. I like to say we have done everything except shoe a horse. We reach over 5,000 Central Floridians monthly and a growing number nationally through personal contact, telephone, e-mail, social media and our website, www.SeniorAndLifeSolutions.com.
We have not spent ANY MONEY on salaries. We have 105 volunteers now and will need more every 2 -3 months. We do spend money on Meal Time food and costs either directly or indirectly and for the different services we do to help seniors on all sorts of things except medical. (We do help them with Part D Drug coverage and applying for Medicaid or Medicare.)
Our other major programs are Transportation, Successful Living to decrease loneliness and boredom, and our Senior Friendly Stores and Offices.
We need to raise an additional $2,000 per month to keep helping seniors. As hard as it may be for you to assist us in these awful economic times, imagine how hard it is for a lot of seniors to just survive. Many are on a fixed income that hasn't increased in a few years yet you know how the cost of living has gone up. Look at groceries and gasoline.
SALS is now seeking donations of any size to help with our costs which keep rising because of helping more and more seniors, and to expand our services. A one time donation or a monthly commitment would be great. No donation is too small. Please help either as a volunteer or with a donation to help our seniors.
